Nigerian Singer, Akanbi Bamidele Brett professionally known as Cheque, recently made headlines after he was dragged on social media for his freestyle video in which he made a gesture to Davido’s wife, Chioma.
Cheque was seen in his car throughout the video, singing to different women’s photographs on his phone. He scrolled through Davido and his wife, Chioma’s pictures, calling them shawty, and when he got to a picture of Chioma alone, he zoomed in on it and started singing.
This move caused debate among fans and followers, with many claiming that zooming in on Chioma’s photo like any ‘random babe’ is rude.
Cheque erased the video and, while he did not specify what he did, he offered a public apologies to Davido, indicating that he did not intend any disrespect.
Questions have surrounded the reason for this apology as numerous speculations indicated that the singer’s now-deleted video which many had considered disrespectful to the wife of Davido, Chioma is the reason.
His apology reads:
“Never meant any form of disrespect to Davido. baba has been there for me anytime I need am, even on zoom remix. I no just just reason am well before posting. Thank you and love you big bro .. OBO”
