Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has called on Rivers people to defend their votes at the upcoming governorship and house of assembly elections on Saturday, March 9, Vanguard reports.

Governor Wike made this call at a town hall meeting between him and leaders of Rivers East Senatorial District in Bori on Monday.

The governor also encouraged the people to go about their civic duties peacefully and be vigilant to make sure their votes count.

“Just be vigilant and protect your votes. We have no security with us, but we have the Chief Security Officer of the world on our side,” Wike said during the meeting.

“If they like they should bring Police, Army and thugs from all over the world, we are quite confident that we shall smile on March 9, 2019. Come out and vote for people you can vouch for.”
