Tragedy struck in the early hours of yesterday in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital,  when a soldier attached to the Joint Military Task Force (JTF), Operation Pulo Shield, was allegedly stabbed to death by a commercial sex worker following a disagreement over money.

The suspect described as an indigene of Edo State, was said to have stabbed the soldier twice in the stomach inside her room located at Hospital Road, Yenagoa.

Checks indicated that after a sex romp till about 4a.m., there was an argument over the fee for  the “services” rendered.

The victim was said to have refused to pay because he considered the fee too high and a brawl ensued, during which the suspect  reached for a knife and stabbed the soldier in the stomach as he attempted to leave the room.

His scream was said to have attracted people, who later found him in a pool of his blood inside the  woman’s room and rushed him to an undisclosed hospital, where he later died.

Already, most of the commercial sex workers in the area were said to have temporarily relocated, for  fear of reprisal attack by soldiers.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hilary Opara confirmed that the, “culprit has been arrested and facing investigation.”

He, however, said the police did not receive any report on the death of the soldier at the hospital because he was being treated.
