A man pretending to be mad has been arrested by the RRS, with a toy pistol under Eko Bridge, Lagos.
The officers were informed by a motor cyclist around 11:00 p.m on Sunday. They rushed to the scene and saw the man hiding the gun in his trousers and trying to run away. He was arrested and searched.
Found on him was a black toy pistol replica of a Barreta pistol. He claimed to be Oyahere Johnson, 35, from Port Harcourt.
He said he had been using the toy gun to rob in the area.
Meanwhile, in February, another impostor was caught near Abule Egba Fly Over by the operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command for robbery last Saturday after being caught with stolen items.
Nathaniel Peters, 28, a meat seller who disguises as a paying customer at nightclubs while he robs other partying customers, was arrested after RRS officers stationed close to the bridge in response to a distress call by a lady who was robbed of her belongings and wounded around 5:00 a.m. in the area, noticed Peter running away from the area.
PoliticsNGR learned that after a hot pursuit, he was arrested. The victim said Peters wasn’t the guy that robbed her but a laptop, two wrist watches and two handsets were recovered from him.
After series of questioning, Peters opened up that he was coming from a nightclub somewhere around Ikeja where he had dispossessed drunk clubbers of the items.
He added that he had been visiting nightclubs particularly those in Ikeja to break into parked vehicles and rob sleeping/drunk clubbers of their valuables.
