Boko Haram Islamist sect has claimed responsibility of last month’s abduction of more than 200 girls from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.
“I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah,” says leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau in a video which was obtained Monday morning by Agence France-Presse.
According to the report, armed members of Boko Haram overpowered men of the military at the all-girls school in Chibok on 14th April, kidnapped the girls and forced them into some waiting trucks. The trucks then took off and headed into the dreaded Sambisa forest.
Recall that President Goodluck Jonathan in a media of Sunday evening said the whereabouts of the kidnapped girls was still unknown, despite efforts by the security operatives. He promised to do all within his power to secure the release of the girls who have been held hostage by their captors since the past 2 weeks.
