Kpodoh, who was the interim chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state, said though the discoveries of looted funds has confirmed his claims of corrupt spending and enrichment by politicians under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, “the ongoing anti-corruption campaign will help restore the people’s confidence in our democracy.
“The discovery by EFCC is a confirmation of the worry expressed by the people. And it is a shame on the political class. Why were they stock piling monies? Is it that they are afraid of poverty and want to be richer than the nation? “The last six years was a shameful era in which the vault of the Central Bank was thrown open for the few to loot and majority of the masses left to suffer poverty, under-development and joblessness.” Kpodoh noted that though his recent calls for proper probe of the last six years of former administration was criticized by those who participated in the plundering of the treasury, “the recent discovery has confirmed my fears and it has boosted our confidence that President Buhari will return the country on the part of sanity.”
Kpodoh, who offered special prayers for President Muhammadu Buhari, asked Nigerians to pray for the President for quick recovery and sustained strength to complete the task of ridden the nation of wicked and corrupt politicians with his anti-corruption battle.
He also commended President Buhari over the recent suspension of the SGF and the DG,NIA, describing it as an icing on the cake for anti-corruption war in the country, saying: “For looking inward and suspending the duo of the SGF and NIA DG, it is an icing on the cake for anti-corruption battle.”
Kpodoh called on President Buhari and the EFCC to sustain the battle by checking the books of the Presidential Amnesty Committee headed by Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh (rtd). “What we are asking for is an audit of the amnesty committee books because of the noticeable anomaly in the sharing of amnesty slots, use of amnesty funds for ventures it is not meant for and the use of slots to settle political patronage. “Our little investigation showed that instead of settling the arrears owed ex-militants with funds available, the amnesty office is busy sponsoring campaigns of self-adulation for future political purpose and using amnesty slots to settle those who pushed for his appointment.”
