The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have seized a five-storey hotel along Mabushi-Kado road in Abuja, suspected to be owned by former First Lady, Patience Jonathan.
Apart from the hotel, the EFCC also seized three other properties in Abuja owned by Mrs Jonathan.
Though the graft-fighting agency has not officially valued the hotel, it is believed to be worth over N2 billion, the Punch reports..
The property is believed to have between 50 and 100 rooms as well as a gymnasium.
A mechanic who works at a nearby petrol station told the newspaper that Mrs Jonathan used to visit the hotel but has not been seen in the area since January.
“She used to come here frequently but she has not come in the last six months. The hotel is supposed to have been opened for business but for some reason, they have not done so. It has not even been given a name yet.”
The commission also seized Mrs. Jonathan’s properties in Karsana, Wasa and Idogwari areas of Abuja. There are indications that some of her properties in Port Harcourt and Yenagoa will also be seized.
Patience first came under EFCC investigation in May 2016 when the commission arrested a former Special Adviser to the President on Domestic Affairs, Waripamowei Dudafa.
