Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, says he doesn’t know who funds Buhari’s medical bills.
Mr Adesina said this while on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, adding that as President, Nigeria should be fotting the bills.
He said:
“I do not know who is paying, but as a president, he has a right to be treated by the country.”
President Buhari had left the country about 98 days ago for a second treatment for an undisclosed ailment and despite reports his health has deteriorated, the presidency has since debunked the reports.
On if the president is fit to travel back to the country, Adeshina said:
“If you know the President, at the peak of his performance – when he first assumed the Presidency and we went to different parts of the world, you will know that he is a man of tremendous energy and tremendous ability.
“If a man was ill and he has mended, that means he is restored. He can do what he used to do and possibly even more.”
On if Buhari will be coming back to the country with UK doctors who’d monitor his health progress, he said it was just an opinion.
“Their opinions do not necessarily translate to the gospel truth. It’s just an opinion.”
Femi Adeshina also spoke on the controversy surrounding the Presidential Aircraft, NAF 001, which had been in London since May 7 when Buhari was flown there which would require taxpayers’ funds to be spent on parking fees.
Adeshina noted that the aircraft was still in London.
He maintained the same statement released by the presidency in June, saying the country was expected to get a discount on the payments.
