The body of the man who jumped into the lagoon beneath the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge on Tuesday has been found.
The Lagos State Emergency and Rescue Agency (LASEMA) reportedly retrieved the corpses on Thursday morning, while complete details of the tragedy are still unknown to Nigerians.
After two days of active search and rescue efforts, this happened.
Recall that days ago GIDIBASE had reported on the jumping of the dispatch rider. Eyewitnesses on the route confirmed sighting the man jumping from the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge into the lagoon.
Commuters on the road rushed to the barricade of the bridge to see if the man could be seen calling for help.
One of the eyewitnesses, Temitope, tweeted: “Depression is real tbh Someone just jumped into the Ikoyi link bridge water right in front of me, not quite long. Hope he will not be lifeless before the rescue team arrives.”
Confirming the incident, the spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said: “Our men are there, controlling the crowd as other rescue teams arrive.”
The State Environmental Health Management Unit (SEHMU) had quickly placed the corpses in bags for transport to the Lagos morgue.
