Rapper Wale Announces New Collaborative Project, Days After ‘Shading’ Wizkid
Today, the MMG rapper revealed he is working with Wizkid on a new collaborative project which will be featured in his upcoming album, #Shine.
“In studio wit bro @wizkidayo so many SHiNE vibes .. I promise,” the Nigerian-American rapper tweeted, adding, “Crazy how far we came ..*insert Nigerian flags* We just gettin started tho.”
This comes days after Nigerians on Twitter dragged Wale over his questionable reaction to Wizkid’s international breakthrough.
Recall that last week, when music site Genius tweeted that Wizkid had become the first Nigerian artiste to make the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Wale had a slightly questionable reaction to that report: he replied with a thinking face emoji, a move Nigerians perceived as shade thrown to the Star Boy. Many Wizkid fans dragged him mercilessly, while some alleged he had previously refused to claim his heritage and was only doing so because Nigerian home-based singers are gaining global recognition.
Well, Wale has proven he is on good terms with the ‘Ojuelegba’ singer, and to show just how chummy-chum they are, he will be featuring the singer in his much-anticipated album.
