On Friday night, a building apartment within the courtyard of the Palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, was destroyed.
According to sources, the incident happened at 11:30 p.m. and was caused by a power surge that erupted through the apartment’s electrical appliances.
According to footage going viral, the structure had been bulldozed and practically all of its contents had been destroyed.

Comrade Moses Olafare, the Ooni’s Palace’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, confirmed the event in a statement on Saturday.
The blaze, according to Olafare, did not extend beyond the affected structure, which is located in a section of the palace grounds, since it was quickly put out by the combined efforts of the Government Fire Service, OAU Fire Service, and Palace Emergency Control Unit.
He further stated that no casualties, injuries, or cultural items were lost as a result of the incident.
