It emerged that the newly elected members of the Federal National Assembly would receive a whopping N8.64 Billion as their wardrobe allowance annually. This equates to to N17.5 million for each of the 360 members of the House of Representatives and N21.5 million for each of the 109 senators!

Yup!

Because as government workers who are meant to be serving the people of Nigeria, a country that is reportedly broke would rather use tax payers money to keep members of the house rocking Hermes, Chanel, Christian Louboutin, Rolex, YSL and any other ridiculously expensive designer that would need to cater to these “government officials” while the rest of the country wallows in no petrol, no power, no jobs and poor healthcare.

Mind you these house of assembly members are also entitled to furniture, vehicle and housing allowances! No wonder politics is a do or die affair in Nigeria, why work when you can become a senator and just keep collecting allowance after allowance?!

Anyways seeing the backlash that arose after the N8.64 billion “wardrobe allowance” story broke, the Senate President Bukola Saraki has now come forward to say the wardrobe allowance will be reviewed.
