Plateau United and MFM FC have progressed to the first round of the CAF Champions League following impressive results in their second-leg matches yesterday.
NPFL champions Plateau United won both legs of their fixtures against Cameroonian side, Eding Sport, defeating them 3-0 in Jos and 1-0 away.
The other debutants on the continent, MFM FC secured a nervy 1-0 win at home against Real Bamako, after the sides had played out a 1-1 result in the first-leg.
MFM FC got a timely nod to use their Agege Stadium home ground for their first ever continental home game and Akuneto Chijoke’s 81st minute header made it a befitting curtain raiser.
Both teams head further into unfamiliar waters and the fixtures might prove trickier and tougher.
Plateau United next face Tunisian side and 2007 CAF Champions League winners, Etoile du Sahel. The first-leg will very likely be played inside the Stade Olympique de Sousse next month.
On the other hand, MFM FC will face the winner between MC Alger or AS Otôho.
