Embattled singer, Burna Boy, may have imagined several ways his visit to the police station may have played out but never in his imagination would it have involved sharing a cell at the Special Anti-Armed Robbery Squad (SARS) with other armed robbers and hardened criminals.
The Spaceship Entertainment front act finally turned himself in to the authorities last Thursday after months of playing hide-and-seek with the police over alleged complicity in the armed attack and robbery of his fellow singer, Mr. 2Kay.
Following his arrest and interrogation when he finally surrendered himself at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Burna Boy was detained ahead of his arraignment in court tomorrow, Monday.
However, his arraignment in court tomorrow is now also in doubt after a police source told SUNDAY PUNCH that he may remain in custody for an extended period to allow for water-tight evidences to be brought against him.
The source said, “He is currently in the SARS custody and he is helping the police in the investigation. For now, I can’t say categorically what his charges will be but definitely they are related to robbery for which the other suspects were arraigned”.
“His statements are still being taken and there are more revelations. We don’t want to rush to court with charges that will be struck out for lack of evidence.
“The essence of prosecution is to secure a conviction at the end of the day. That is what we want to ensure”, another police officer, who is privy to the case told the newspaper.
