The Nigerian senate on Tuesday, experienced a rowdy executive session as Dino Melaye reportedly threatened to ‘beat up’ and ‘impregnate’ Remi Tinubu, the wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to Sahara Reporters, the Senators who met behind closed doors, were angered by the trial of the leadership of the Senate for forgery of the standing order.
Shortly after commencement of the session, some of the Senators called on their colleagues, led by Senators Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi (APC Kaduna North) and Kabir Marafa (APC Zamfara Central), to bury the hatchet and withdraw their petition that led to the criminal prosecution of Senate President Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.
The executive session, which was chaired by Saraki, also reminded the Senate that a committee led by former Senate President David Mark had been set up to “reconcile” members.
Shortly after, outspoken senator, Melaye, who’s a keen supporter of Saraki, said the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, must be brought before the Senate to be thoroughly grilled and humiliated for charging the Senate leadership with forgery in court.
Melaye reportedly called on the Senators in attendance to engage the presidency in a no holds barred fight, while issuing a wide variety of threats.
Senator Remi Tinubu, was quoted to have said the upper legislative chamber should not be reduced to a kindergarten where Senators could just issue childish threats.
Her statement reportedly irked Melaye who flew into rage, calling her names.
“I will beat you up on this floor and nothing will happen,” he reportedly threatened.
