US President, Barack Obama will not be participating in the ice bucket challenge despite being nominated by 86-year-old Ethel Kennedy, the matriarch of the Kennedy family.
The president turned down the offer and will instead be making a monetary donation.
The challenge aims at raising awareness and funds for ALS, a neurodegenerative disease.
The purpose of ice being poured on the participants is to enable them get a glimpse into what sufferers of the disease go through.
Many famous people from all over the world, including Nigeria’s own Genevieve Nnaji and Don Jazzy, have participated in the challenge.
