The WBC heavyweight title will be on the line when Deontay Wilder faces lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in the main event of a Showtime pay-per-view boxing card on Saturday. The card is set to begin at 9 p.m. ET
Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) and Fury (27-0, 19 KOs) have been on a crash course for a long time, but that was derailed when Fury left the sport in 2016 amid a doping scandal and medical issues. It took a long time for his return to the ring, going from a November 2015 win over the legendary Wladimir Klitschko to a June 2018 contest against Sefer Seferi. Since then he’s also beaten Francesco Pianeta, and with two tune-up fights under his belt, has declared himself ready for Wilder.
